Work with me

Positioning and human writing for established founders.

If I am going to write in your name, I need to understand what you see that someone less experienced would miss. That understanding develops through regular conversations and the questions that follow your first answer. I use it to write work you can recognise yourself in, with a clear view of who needs to read it and why.

01

Ongoing work

Founder Authority Partnership

The Founder Authority Partnership brings positioning and human writing into an ongoing working relationship. I work with a small number of established founders, CEOs and specialists, often in technology, SaaS and high-value professional services in the UK and the US.

We meet regularly to develop the material. I do the writing and editing, and you review the drafts before publication. Alongside that, we look at how your profile and network support the potential clients you want to reach.

01Positioning
We decide what you should be known for and which potential clients need that expertise. We use that decision to choose the subjects we write about and assess whether each draft supports the position. We revisit it as your business and thinking develop.
02Interviews and voice notes
Regular conversations give me a way to understand how you reach a conclusion, including the experience behind an answer that seems obvious to you. Voice notes can help when an idea occurs between calls. Your existing writing can also provide useful source material.
03Original ideas and frameworks
I listen for the distinctions you make when explaining your work. Some need a fuller argument; others may become a useful framework that helps a potential client understand a complicated problem. We develop the form that serves the idea, without forcing every observation into a named method.
04Human-written LinkedIn posts
I write your posts from your own thinking and source material, then edit and re-edit with your voice in mind. That involves understanding the opinion well enough to express it accurately, including the qualifications you would make in conversation. You approve everything before it is published.
05Longer writing
Some arguments need room for the detail that makes them useful. Where it serves your goals, I write essays, articles or newsletter issues from the same source material. A potential client who wants to understand your approach can then read beyond a short post.
06Your profile and biography
Your LinkedIn profile and other introductions should help a potential client understand what you do and when you could help. I review how those descriptions support your positioning, adapting them to the context in which they will be read.
07Audience research and network
We identify potential clients whose needs fit your expertise, along with relevant peers and referrers. Research informs the connections you make and the conversations you take part in. The purpose is to give the right people more opportunity to encounter and understand your work.
08Editorial judgement
Part of my role is to question the argument. Sometimes an aside needs developing into the main piece; sometimes an opinion needs more thought before it is ready to publish. I will explain what I think needs work, so the finished writing reflects a position you are willing to stand behind.

02

Putting the direction into practice

Give a prospective client enough to judge your approach.

A prospective client cannot assess your thinking from a strategy document they will never see. They need to encounter it in the way you explain a problem or question an assumption they have been making. Once we have agreed the direction, I do the writing that lets them make that assessment for themselves.

This can give an enquiry a different starting point. A potential client may arrive with a question about something you have written, already considering how your approach relates to their own business. The work is intended to support those conversations; I do not promise a fixed number of enquiries or a revenue result.

03

Fit

This tends to work well if

  • You have depth in your field and opinions you are willing to explain and stand behind.
  • Your clients make a considered purchase, where understanding your judgement helps them decide.
  • You can give regular time to conversation and review.
  • You want to develop a recognisable body of work over time.

What the work asks of you

  • You remain involved in the thinking and approve the writing before publication.
  • You are willing to develop an argument through feedback, rather than treating a post as a box to tick.

04

A strategy engagement

The Mind Map

The Mind Map looks at how you explain your expertise and whether that is helping you reach the clients you want.

We work through your business in depth, including the problems you help clients solve and how you currently describe that work. I assess your positioning and audience, then give you recommendations for the direction of your writing and professional presence.

You can take the recommendations forward yourself or with your team. If you would like help developing the writing, we can discuss the partnership.

We discuss the scope and fee for the work you need in our first conversation. See speaking.

Would you like help with your positioning and writing?

Tell me about your business and what you would like to change. We can work out whether I'm the right person to help.
